-Dr Sachin Gurav, Mentor
How did you find the initial idea and what was your reaction to it?
When the students first presented the idea for their project, I was impressed by their creativity and the potential impact it could have on the lives of individuals with disabilities. The concept of integrating AI into assistive technology was not only innovative but also aligned with current trends in automation and healthcare. My initial reaction was one of excitement, as I recognised the opportunity for these students to contribute meaningfully to a vital area of need.
What was the response from the students to your guidance and the deliberations that followed?
The students were highly receptive to my guidance, showing enthusiasm and a willingness to explore various approaches to refine their project. Our discussions were collaborative, and I was impressed by their commitment to learning and improving their design. Their proactive attitude allowed us to delve deeper into the technical aspects of the project, fostering a productive mentoring relationship.
How does the college encourage and inspire students to go beyond theory and experiment with projects?
Our college encourages students to move beyond theoretical knowledge by providing hands-on opportunities, resources, and a supportive environment for experimentation. We organise workshops, hackathons, and competitions that challenge students to apply their learning in real-world contexts. This approach not only fosters innovation but also inspires students to think critically and creatively about their projects.
