Exterra Carbon Solutions

Exterra Carbon Solutions is a Canadian cleantech innovator based in Quebec that transforms mining waste into low-carbon minerals while permanently sequestering CO₂ through engineered mineralization. Its proprietary LOW™ process extracts reactive metal oxides (like magnesium and calcium oxides) from mining residues, and its ROC™ process converts these oxides into stable carbonates at the surface, enabling durable, atmospheric CO₂ removal. The company is developing Hub I, slated for commissioning in 2027 in Quebec, which will be the world’s largest asbestos-tailings valorization plant, capable of processing over 300,000 tonnes annually. It has also partnered with Deep Sky on a pilot CO₂ sequestration facility, and with BASF to explore integrated capture and mineralization solutions—positioning itself as a circular economy leader in carbon-negative mineral recovery.
