Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd (REEL), rebranded as Re Sustainability, was founded in 1994 in Hyderabad, India, as part of the Ramky Group. It is one of Asia’s leading environmental and waste management service providers, backed by a 60% stake from KKR since 2018, valuing the company at nearly $1 billion. Operating over 85 locations across India, Singapore, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Tanzania, and the USA, REEL manages over 100 million tonnes of waste, offering services in hazardous, municipal, biomedical, MARPOL, construction, and e-waste management, as well as waste-to-energy (WTE), recycling (wastewater, paper, plastic), and environmental solutions like effluent treatment plants (ETPs). Key projects include India’s largest WTE plants in Hyderabad (19.8 MW) and Delhi (24 MW), an AI-enabled material recovery facility in Dubai, and a MARPOL waste treatment facility in Oman. The company faced a 20-month World Bank debarment in 2021 for fraudulent practices, resolved through compliance improvements.
