Robotics Researcher -- Dexterity
Omron Management Center of America, Inc. ("OMCA") is excited to announce their brand new Research and Development department. We are looking for an energetic and focused Robotics Researcher -- Dexterity in the San Ramon, CA area. This position reports to the Director of Research and Development and we are looking for researchers passionate about developing smart robots that can be used to improve people's lives, and enable breakthrough advances in human/machine interaction and intelligent automation.
Responsibilities:
Work with a team of peers to innovate, develop and promote new robotics technologies.
Architect, develop and establish viability of new algorithms, in close cooperation with leading robot manufacturer Omron Adept Technologies.
Seek synergy with other aspects of Omron's diverse business portfolio in industrial automation, social systems, automotive and health products.
Engage in collaborative R&D with leading research centers, universities and partner companies.
Stay on the cutting edge, maintaining a keen understanding of innovative technologies in the robotics field, and developing high value IP with other Omron researchers.
Represent Omron in a professional, ethical, and socially responsible manner.
Represents the Omron Guiding Principles through personal and business interactions with employees, distributors, and colleagues.
Requirements:
Ph.D. in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in automation and robotics technology research and development.
Deep understanding of multi-axis robot applications, architectures and control methodologies.
Demonstrated experience developing algorithms for force controlled assembly, parts fastening, bin picking and related assembly tasks.
Has up to date knowledge, and recent experience in robot arm/hand dexterity methods and technologies.
Well versed in AI technologies and applications.
Solid algorithm prototyping and coding skills (Requisite: Matlab/Python, C/C++).
Proficient in current Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Excellent oral and written presentation skills, with ability to communicate effectively to fellow researchers, and business-minded stakeholders.
Energetic, aggressive, focused and a highly motivated self-starter.
Strong relationship builder and a strong personal desire to win.
Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally with strong organizational skills.
Team player mentality but able to work independently as required.
