Nidec Power unveils its first environmental product declaration (EPD) for LSA 50.2 – A major sustainability milestone

Nidec Power has taken a major leap in environmental transparency with the release of an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its LSA 50.2 alternator, manufactured in Europe. As one of the only alternators in the industry to earn this third-party verified certification, it sets a new standard in sustainability. This move highlights Nidec Power’s strong commitment to measuring, reducing, and ultimately minimizing its environmental impact across the entire product lifecycle.

EPDs provide essential insights into a product’s environmental footprint, throughout the product lifecycle.

Angouleme (France), April 2025 – Nidec Power recently announced the release of an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the LSA 50.2 manufactured and assembled in Europe, marking a significant step forward in the alternator industry’s sustainability journey. This achievement makes the LSA 50.2 one of the very few alternators with an independently verified EPD—what we believe to be only the second ever in the sector.

As global industries push for greater transparency and environmental responsibility, EPDs provide essential insights into a product’s environmental footprint, throughout the product lifecycle. By securing this certification, Nidec Power reinforces its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

"This EPD is just the beginning," said David Sonzogni, President Nidec Power Europe & Asia. "Our approach is clear: first, we measure, then we reduce. Soon, we will introduce a comprehensive plan to enhance the sustainability of our entire Leroy-SomerTM product lineup,” stated Sylvain Vannier, CSR Director Europe & Asia.

Nidec Power’s upcoming initiatives will focus on reducing product impact across energy consumption, optimising supply chain processes, and expanding efforts to include Scope 3 emissions. The company is setting clear, measurable targets to ensure continuous progress toward a lower environmental footprint.
