Empowering the Next Generation of Tech Leaders through the 17th Edition of Karnataka’s Premier Engineering Challenge

BENGALURU — March 27, 2026Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in collaboration with the Board for IT Education Standards (BITES), has officially opened registrations for the 17th edition of TCS TechBytes. This high-octane engineering IT quiz is designed to challenge students across Karnataka to look beyond their textbooks and immerse themselves in the rapidly evolving world of technology.

Open to BE/BTech students of all streams and semesters, the competition aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry trends. By testing knowledge on emerging domains, TCS TechBytes helps students prepare for the competitive, technology-intensive landscape of the modern global workforce.

Regional Rounds and Grand Finale Schedule

The competition will travel across Karnataka, hosting regional rounds in six major hubs before the state-level showdown in Bengaluru.

  • Kalaburagi: April 15

  • Hubballi: April 17

  • Mangaluru: April 22

  • Mysuru: April 24

  • Tumakuru: May 2

  • Bengaluru (Regional & Finals): May 5

The Road to the Podium

Each participating institution can nominate up to 10 teams, with each team consisting of two students. There is no participation fee, making this an accessible platform for all aspiring engineers. Institutions must submit their entries to [email protected] by the deadline of April 13, 2026.

Prizes and Recognition

TCS TechBytes offers more than just bragging rights; it provides significant financial support and industry recognition for the state's top technical minds.

  • Regional Winners: Gift vouchers worth ₹12,000.

  • Regional Runners-up: Gift vouchers worth ₹10,000.

  • State Finals Winners: An educational scholarship worth ₹85,000.

  • State Finals Runners-up: An educational scholarship worth ₹50,000.

Who is eligible to participate?

Any student currently enrolled in a BE or BTech program in Karnataka, regardless of their branch (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, CS, Electronics) or which semester they are currently in.

How do we register?

Students cannot register individually. Registrations must be handled by the respective engineering institutions. Your college must send the details of the nominated teams to the BITES manager before the April 13 deadline.

What is the format of the quiz?

The quiz typically involves a preliminary written round followed by an on-stage oral round for the top-scoring teams. It focuses on conceptual clarity, quick thinking, and a broad awareness of the global tech ecosystem.
