IO-Link, New Generation

The new generation of IO-Link – Murrelektronik’s large IO-Link family has grown again.

Murrelektronik is presenting pure.IO, a very cost-effective solution that expands its IO-Link system. pure.IO sets new standards in IO-Link technology and enables easy use in all standard applications in production and intralogistics.

Simply plug it in and get started –Murrelektronik’s IO-Link system is compatible with devices from multiple manufacturers, can be used worldwide and in new machines as well as for retrofitting existing systems. These features make Murrelektronik's universal IO-Link installation system the perfect solution for getting started with digitisation. 

The term ‘system’ is meant quite literally here: from masters to a wide range of devices (I/O modules, analog converters, signal towers, pushbutton boxes, power supplies, and much more) to connection technology, Murrelektronik offers a complete, perfectly coordinated IO-Link portfolio – all from a single source. 

With IO-Link, the sensor/actuator level can be seamlessly networked to the control system and, if required, digitised via a direct cloud connection.

What’s new for 2026: Murrelektronik is presenting pure.IO, a very cost-effective solution that expands this system. 

No other daisy chain and multi-protocol-capable IO-Link master on the market is more compact and lightweight—for maximum efficiency from the sensor to the controller. In terms of numbers, they are 20 percent more compact and 2.5 times lighter than conventional fieldbus modules.

This saves space, material, and energy when mounting on moving plant components. Thanks to the innovative design, all components can also be separated from each other and thus recycled – a clear plus in terms of sustainability.

The comprehensive diagnostic options are also unique and patented: 4 corner LEDs and three LEDs per port make diagnostics easy, as the diagnostic and status LEDs are visible from all sides. 

This means that any need for action is immediately apparent – and expensive machine downtime can be reduced to a minimum.

Speaking of cost-effective: The new pure.IO family also includes I/O modules that allow IO-Link to be looped through. This enables Murrelektronik to offer daisy chain topologies for power, fieldbus, and IO-Link for the first time, opening up a whole new dimension in terms of flexibility and cost-effectiveness: up to 256 I/Os can be networked with just one pure.IO IO-Link master.
