Automation on the factory floor now stands at a similar inflection point.

Deploying an autonomous mobile robot today typically involves weeks of integration, specialist programming and continued reliance on the OEM for every modification. At Virya Autonomous Technologies, we regard this complexity as one of the principal barriers to the wider adoption of automation in Indian manufacturing and warehousing. Our objective is to democratise AMR deployment and bring it within reach of the teams that operate on the factory floor.

The first stage is low code. Through visual, configuration-based tools, plant engineers can map routes, define pick-up and drop-off locations and establish mission rules without writing code. Integrating with a Warehouse Execution System (WES), adding a new station or changing a layout becomes a routine operational task, while our engineers continue to support requirements that call for custom logic.

The long-term objective is no-code: a deployment experience that requires no specialised technical expertise, enabling a robot to move from commissioning to productive operation in hours rather than weeks.

Technology alone will not achieve this. Simplified deployment depends equally on operational discipline within the facility: standardised pallets and bins, clearly marked and consistently maintained pathways, well-defined material flow processes and reliable data from plant systems. Where these fundamentals are in place, low-code and no-code tools deliver their full value; where they are absent, even the most capable platform will struggle.

Just as standardisation enabled digital payments to scale across the country, a shared commitment to operational discipline will allow automation to extend beyond large enterprises to manufacturers of every size.
