NITIE Avartan – The Business Festival

NITIE Mumbai successfully conducted its 25th Annual Business Festival, capturing the latest trends in the constantly changing face of the global supply chain.
With the advent of technologies like AI, automation, and blockchain, it has become imperative to groom leaders for the future who can leverage the technological understanding along with management capabilities for managing the rapidly changing landscape of the world.
The National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) amalgamates the best of both these worlds in a perfect manner. NITIE was established by the Government of India and the United Nation’s International Labour Organisation. The endeavour was to create a Centre of Excellence that would generate solutions to the conundrums of an aggressively expanding industrial order.
NITIE is renowned as the top Indian B-school for Operations and Supply Chain Management. To discuss issues of the industries and to gain insights from some of the top experts of the industry, every year, NITIE organises – Avartan, the business festival. This year marked the 25th edition of the event. The event is one of India’s leading management festivals and sees participation from students across major B-Schools in India. Every year, the event is attended by the stalwarts of the industry and some of the biggest names which have attended the event in the past include: Adi Godrej – Chairman, Godrej Group; Kumar M Birla – Chairman, Aditya Birla Group; Azim Premji – Chairman, Wipro; Ratan Tata – Former Chairman, Tata Group; Sunil Mittal – Chairman, Bharti Enterprises; Nandan Nilekani – Cofounder and non-executive Chairman, Infosys; Y C Deveshwar – Chairman, ITC; and Dilipkumar Khandelwal – MD, SAP Labs India.
Continuing the rich legacy this year, NITIE hosted three brilliant minds of the industry, for Prerana Business Meet, 2019 – Mr Arvind Mathur, CEO, Raymond UCO Denim Pvt Ltd; Mr Madan R Krishnan, MD & VP, Indian Sub-Continent, Medtronic; and Mr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power. Dignitaries at Prerana Business Meet (PBM) gave their inputs on the topic, “Synergising the Global Value Chain – Creating A Winning Formula,” which aimed to capture the latest trends which were constantly changing the face of the global supply chain concerning different fields in the current global scenario. The discussion on this topic was quite engaging and informative, thanks to the vast experience and stature of the esteemed guests.
The other major events which were conducted include NITIE Finance Conclave, NITIE Supply Chain Conclave, The Summer Project Contests, Cita De La Prerana, and Deciblez.
Some of the dignitaries who presided over other major events included Mr Hardeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, 7-Eleven India; Mr Dheeraj Shah, Global Head – Supply Chain Management, Tata Consultancy Services; Mr Nandkumar Kulkarni, Director-Integrated Supply Chain, Mondelez India Foods Private Limited; Mr Alagu Balaraman, Partner & Managing Director-Operations.
The Summer Project Contest, which witnessed participation from students across India, saw students presenting various emerging technologies to enhance the existing industrial practices in the domain of Supply Chain, HR, and Marketing.
Cita De La Prerana witnessed four of entertainment industries popular actors Mr Darshan Jariwalla, Padma Shri Mr Manoj Joshi, Ms Sonali Kulkarni and Ms Sheeba Chadha. The diverse experiences shared by the dignitaries certainly inspired the audience to follow their passion.
The event ended on a high note with the performance of one of India’s leading music singers – Ritviz, wooing audience to his tracks.
