Mansi Mehta is the Founder & CEO of CancerMitr, a pioneering health-tech platform dedicated to transforming cancer care through early detection, financial planning, and holistic patient support. With over 20 years of experience in business and entrepreneurship, she has built a global ecosystem integrating AI-driven solutions, strategic partnerships, and compassionate care to improve patient outcomes.
Mansi Mehta, Founder & CEO, CancerMitr.
As the founder of CancerMitr, what inspired you to establish a tech-enabled platform dedicated to revolutionising cancer care?
Building CancerMitr has been a deeply personal journey. When my mother was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer, our family faced an overwhelming maze of medical decisions, treatments, and side effects.
Watching her endure it—physically, mentally, and emotionally—was heartbreaking. I wished we had known more: early warning signs, treatment options, and ways to manage side effects.
Years later, my sister Niyati, CancerMitr’s co-founder, was diagnosed with a pancreatic tumor with cancer potential. But this time, early detection and better side effect management saved her life. The stark contrast between our experiences fueled our mission to bridge gaps in cancer care. Turning pain into purpose, we built a patient-centric health-tech platform to provide end-to-end solutions—from discovery to recovery.
CancerMitr has successfully impacted over 10,000 lives and educated 50,000+ individuals. What drives your mission to make cancer care accessible and efficient?
India reports over 15 lakh new cancer cases annually, with 70% diagnosed late, 50% delaying treatment due to lack of information, and 14% dropping out due to financial and healthcare access issues.
The ecosystem struggles with low awareness, inadequate infrastructure, and high costs. Non-tobacco-related cancers remain largely unknown, screening rates are low, and many physicians lack expertise. Rural areas face limited diagnostics, long travel to cancer centres, and an overburdened workforce. Treatment costs often exceed the annual income of 80% of the population, while limited research funding slows progress.
Having faced cancer in our own family, we understand how overwhelming it is—not just for patients but their loved ones, too. No one should navigate this battle alone. Our mission is to ease this journey, ensuring patients and caregivers have swift solutions every step of the way.
What makes CancerMitr special is our passionate team, building more than just a platform—we’ve created a community where thousands find support, information, and hope. That’s what keeps us going.
Your proprietary screening tools, such as CanTrack and BRAT, provide advanced diagnostic solutions. Could you share how these tools have enhanced early cancer detection and patient outcomes?
Globally, 60-70% of cancer cases are diagnosed late due to lack of awareness, fear, and limited healthcare access, causing 75% of cancer-related deaths. Early detection saves lives by reducing aggressive treatments, lowering costs, and improving quality of life.
To make early diagnosis accessible, we developed CanTrack, a self-assessment tool that evaluates health risks based on lifestyle, family history, and symptoms, guiding timely investigations and interventions. The name CanTrack implies we 'can' track our health effortlessly while also symbolising Cancer, emphasizing early awareness and risk assessment.
BRAT (Breast Risk Assessment Tool) estimates an individual’s breast cancer risk based on health and genetic factors. Having screened thousands, these tools don’t replace medical diagnosis but serve as vital guides for early detection.
The Cancer Cost Calculator is a unique feature of CancerMitr. How has it empowered patients in financial planning for cancer treatment?
One of the biggest challenges in cancer treatment is its cost, which can range from INR 5L to INR 50L, depending on the stage, grade, and treatment type.
The Cancer Cost Calculator by CancerMitr provides patients with realistic cost estimates based on their cancer type, stage, city, and hospital choice, helping them plan ahead and make informed decisions. Beyond estimates, our Cancer Care experts guide patients through treatment options, hospital choices, and financial support avenues—ensuring no one faces cancer alone or without the knowledge to navigate it.
CancerMitr’s digital ecosystem integrates diagnostics, telemedicine, and counseling. What challenges did you face while building this platform, and how did you overcome them?
Cancer care involves patients, oncologists, hospitals and other stakeholders—each facing unique challenges. Integrating the value chain across all stakeholders is central to our mission.
Patients struggle with communication barriers, emotional distress, and digital literacy. We prioritise accessibility and compassionate support.
Oncologists face data fragmentation, making seamless integration of reports, teleconsultations, and counselling essential. We ensure accuracy, security, and trust. Hospitals need digital solutions that streamline workflows without disruption, balancing innovation with practicality. Building trust in digital care is a challenge, as patients often feel overwhelmed. We emphasize personalisation and human connection. Despite obstacles, our commitment to accessible, affordable, patient-centric care continues to strengthen the ecosystem.
You’ve built a global network of 500+ oncologists, 100+ hospitals, and diagnostic partners across 10+ countries. What strategies have been most effective in scaling your operations globally?
Strategic partnerships with doctors, hospitals, and diagnostic centres have enabled us to scale organically, expanding access to quality cancer care without heavy infrastructure investments. Our decentralised approach ensures standardised, patient-first care while strengthening our credibility across the network. Advocacy and awareness have been key to our growth, fostering conversations around early detection and accessible care. These efforts have increased screenings and uncovered widespread misinformation, reinforcing the power of accurate knowledge.
By combining awareness-driven growth with strategic partnerships, we continue expanding our reach while staying committed to impactful, patient-centric care. A major milestone in this journey is launching our first dedicated CancerMitr Centre of Excellence in Mumbai as part of our initiative to build and manage oncology-focused centres within 50-bedded multispeciality hospitals.
Leveraging AI and machine learning has been central to CancerMitr’s innovations. How do you envision these technologies shaping the future of cancer care?
Our AI-powered tools analyse lifestyle, genetics, and medical history to identify high-risk individuals before symptoms appear. For example, our Oral Health Assessment Tool flagged early signs of a precancerous condition in a young tobacco user—missed in standard checkups. Doctors confirm AI enhances decision-making, improving speed and accuracy.
Beyond individuals, AI provides broader insights on collective health. A corporate wellness initiative detected high stress, poor sleep, and unhealthy habits, prompting companies to adopt healthier policies with tangible benefits. AI also personalises cancer care, ensuring tailored treatments. Just as people rely on apps for fitness and nutrition, cancer patients need intuitive, data-driven tools for guidance.
We’re developing AI-driven support systems for real-time guidance, symptom tracking, medication reminders, and AI chatbots—ensuring expert-backed care anytime, reducing uncertainty, and improving continuity.
Your platform has saved over 10 lakh hours through operational efficiencies. What operational improvements are you focusing on next to enhance patient satisfaction further?
Saving over 10 lakh hours is a milestone, but we aim to enhance patient satisfaction further. Our priorities include reducing wait times and streamlining navigation, as delays in cancer treatment can be critical. We’re refining our AI-driven appointment system to optimise consultations and improve coordination.
With expanded AI-powered chat and virtual assistants for instant answers, progress tracking, and timely reminders, real-time patient support is another focus. We’re also developing personalised treatment roadmaps, providing clear, step-by-step plans based on cancer type, stage, and financial needs. At the core of these efforts is our commitment to making the patient journey smoother, more transparent, and less stressful.
