Prof Dr G Dilli Babu, Mentor.
How did you find the initial idea and what was your reaction to it?
The inspiration for the idea came from the need to increase the effectiveness and precision of spot welding in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries in the manufacturing or electric vehicle industries. This idea has also been inspired by developments in robotics, automation technology, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).With the use of this automated system, the manufacturing industries will be able to automate difficult tasks like spot welding.
What was the response from the students to your guidance and the deliberations that followed?
The students responded with enthusiasm and a strong willingness to learn. Although the students encountered practical difficulties during building the automated spot welding equipment, their enthusiasm eventually contributed to its successful completion.
How does the college encourage and inspire students to go beyond theory and experiment with projects?
The college encourages students to go beyond theory courses by implementing project-oriented approaches. College have introduced various activities, including student chapters, student clubs, and guest lectures from industry experts to generate interest in the latest developments in the engineering sector. Furthermore, the college management provides financial support to student projects through the Institution Innovation Council (IIC).
