The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 sets a new benchmark in precise data recording and evaluation for heat treatment processes, offering advanced digital features that ensure compliance, efficiency, and full process transparency. Trusted by industry leaders like Aluminium-Werke Wutöschingen, this innovative recorder supports rigorous quality standards such as CQI-9 and AMS2750 while providing user-friendly operation and secure, automated reporting.
LOGOSCREEN 700 sets new standards in data recording and evaluation, says Niklas Hack, Product Manager Data Recording & Evaluation/Transmitter, JUMO.
Glass, ceramics, clay, steel or sheet metal are materials that we encounter every day. These are subjected to heat treatment during the manufacturing process. Manufacturers know what requirements are placed on the furnaces and what extreme process conditions they must withstand during processing. What's more, legal conditions have become drastically stricter in some sectors in recent years, meaning that manufacturers have to have their heat processes checked and audited very carefully in order to avoid being held liable.
The leading manufacturers in the automotive industry, for example, know that metals only acquire many of their important properties, such as hardness or tensile strength, through targeted and sophisticated heat treatment. To ensure this, automotive manufacturers have jointly drawn up corresponding regulations for their suppliers. However, there is often uncertainty in the industry about how these regulations can be implemented on the one hand and how the process can be set up efficiently and cost-effectively on the other.
The person who carries out the heat treatment process and is contractually obliged to do so must demonstrate compliance with these regulations. The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) guideline is an absolute standard in the automotive industry.
AWW produces high-quality aluminum products
Aluminium-Werke Wutöschingen (AWW for short) is a medium-sized family business in the 5th generation. As aluminum pioneers from the very beginning, they have been developing and producing innovative lightweight construction solutions since 1914, particularly from aluminum profiles, mechanically processed extruded products and products for cold and hot forming.
The first picture shows one of the three chamber furnaces at Aluminiumwerke Wutöschingen: heating output 1,000 kW; furnace size 87 m², working volume 43 m², calibration according to process table CQI-9.
To ensure consistent, high product quality, AWW uses the JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 as a TUS recorder (Temperature Uniformity Survey, TUS for short). AWW uses the mobile field test device to check the temperature uniformity in the furnace chamber and records the measurement results fully automatically as a PDF. In addition to the important TUS measurement, the JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 also offers the option of checking the system accuracy (System Accuracy Test, SAT for short) of the furnace in accordance with the normative specifications. The fact that the JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 is equipped for large tasks is also evident in the size of AWW's furnace. The chamber furnaces there have a working volume of approx. 43 m³.
JUMO offers the system solution consisting of sensors and measurement technology
The selection of the right sensors and the associated measurement technology in heat treatment can lead to increased expenses and sometimes even despair for customers due to normative specifications such as CQI-9 or AMS2750. JUMO offers great added value for many of its customers through its focus on thermal process technology and the associated expertise in consulting and support. With high-quality temperature sensors and the matching measuring equipment, JUMO also offers a complete solution from a single source, which enables the customer to plan projects easily and without complications. The globally active service technicians round off the complete package with on-site services and support, making JUMO a unique partner in thermal process technology.
The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 as a TUS/SAT recorder is characterised by its browser-based TUS/SAT software. With this, AWW can start the TUS test fully automatically, enter all process-relevant parameters such as setpoint and tolerances, and follow the test on all common web browsers. The unique selling point of the JUMO solution is that it not only displays the actual measured temperature value but also the correct temperature value (taking into account the correction factor of the sensor and device) in a visualisation. The absolute added value for AWW, however, is the fully automatic evaluation of the heat treatment process (measurement passed or failed). After completing the TUS measurement and reading the data into the PCA3000 evaluation software, the service technicians responsible for the test have the option of creating a fully automatic report as a PDF file. This enables AWW to produce simple, fast and complete documentation.
Diverse application possibilities for the field test device
This solution has proven itself at the Wutöschingen aluminum works. There are also other areas in which the field test device can be used optimally. JUMO sees the target group here as primarily furnace manufacturers (OEM), furnace users (Tier 1, 2, 3) who supply the automotive and aerospace industries, the pharmaceutical industry, energy generation and distribution, the semiconductor industry or any industry in which process values must be recorded with high precision.
The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 paperless recorder
The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 paperless recorder is characterised by simple, intuitive operation. This is ensured by the ICON-based operating and visualisation concept. High scalability allows flexible adaptation to different customer needs: from the device version without a measuring input to versions with a maximum of 18 universal measuring inputs, 3 analog outputs, 18 digital inputs, 24 individually switchable digital inputs or outputs and 7 relay outputs.
The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 is also characterised by its high level of connectivity. In addition to the standard Ethernet, USB, mini USB and RS232/485 interfaces, the recorder also has an optional PROFINET interface. This high level of connectivity makes the JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 a powerful all-rounder that can record a total of 60 analog and digital channels and also enables visualisation of up to 120 external analog and digital inputs.
Since securing process-relevant data is becoming increasingly important in the changing digital age, secure and complete documentation is the aim of every plant operator. The JUMO LOGOSCREEN 700 offers the highest level of security when acquiring data through manipulation detection based on the latest hash algorithms. It can be used to create batch reports for up to 5 plants at the same time. Batch control can also be used individually and flexibly here, be it via touchscreen, control signal or interface (Modbus or PROFINET). The Windows-based software package PCA3000/PCC enables fast and secure evaluation of the recorded process data with optional automatic report creation.
