The JUMO Group has officially inaugurated its new SENSILO plant in the Fulda-West Technology Park, marking a €48 million investment in advanced production facilities for temperature and pressure sensors. The state-of-the-art plant features innovative energy solutions and reflects JUMO’s commitment to sustainable growth and technological leadership.
Official opening of the new SENSILO plant in the Fulda-West Technology Park; around €48 million for the production of temperature and pressure sensors.
Fulda/Germany, May 23, 2025 – The JUMO Group opened its new Plant 2 (‘SENSILO’) in Rodges on Thursday. In addition to the Juchheim family, representatives from
politics, business, and administration, as well as numerous customers, partners, guests of honour, and employees, attended the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony on Böcklerstrasse in the Fulda-West Technology Park.
"With the opening of the SENSILO plant, we are not simply implementing a construction project. We are setting an example – for our continued development, for securing our location, and for our entrepreneurial future. SENSILO stands for what JUMO stands for: the will to move things forward. The ability to bring generations together. And the ambition to not only serve markets with our technology, but to create solutions that truly make a difference," said JUMO shareholder Bernhard Juchheim.
"The plant represents a multi-million dollar investment in the future of the group and a commitment to the Fulda economic region and, above all, to our customers," emphasized Managing Director Dr Steffen Hoßfeld. He expressly thanked the City of Fulda and the Fulda District. "The cooperation with the authorities was consistently solution-oriented, unbureaucratic, and cooperative. This helped us greatly and was a key factor in our ability to implement this project so quickly," said Hoßfeld.
Fulda's Mayor Dr Heiko Wingenfeld took up the issue and emphasized: "This investment by JUMO, a long-established Fulda company, is a clear commitment to the Fulda location and the Fulda-West Technology Park. The entire region benefits from such strong medium-sized companies. With the new building, the company is also well positioned for the future, as measurement and control technology is a key technology of the future."
Project Manager Stefan Reith attributed the success of the new construction project remaining entirely within time and budget to integrated project management. This method involves bringing all stakeholders, including the construction and trades companies involved, on board early in the planning process. The team spirit is paramount.
Reith thanked architect Marco Schlothauer (Erfurt), as well as JUMO shareholders, management, the works council, and all employees for their support. With Stefan Steinbeck as the new SENSILO plant manager, they have gained an experienced production specialist who will lead the plant purposefully into the future.
The new plant's energy concept sets impressive standards:
• A 700 kW photovoltaic system on the roof (equivalent to the average energy consumption of approximately 200 single-family homes);
• 20 geothermal probes, each 100 m deep, on the 100,000 m² site (average geothermal energy at a depth of 1,000 m is approximately 10°C);
• 1.2 MW/h cooling capacity for the building's air conditioning (equivalent to the cooling capacity of approximately 2,000 cars);
• Full-surface industrial underfloor heating covering over 8,500 m² (compared to a 7,140 m² football field);
• Efficient heat recovery from production processes.
This versatile energy concept eliminates the need for fossil fuels. JUMO not only significantly reduces its own carbon footprint, but also supports its customers in reducing costs and emissions through JUMO products and solutions.
