Bengaluru Becomes the 3rd Global Hub for Motivair Technology Alongside the US and Italy

BENGALURU, February 18, 2026Schneider Electric, the global energy technology leader, has officially launched its Motivair liquid cooling solutions factory in Bengaluru. This represents the company’s first production site for Motivair technology in India and only its third globally, positioning India as a strategic manufacturing and export hub for AI-ready infrastructure.

The announcement aligns with the India–France Year of Innovation 2026, an initiative led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron to accelerate bilateral high-tech collaboration.

Solving the AI Thermal Challenge

As AI workloads scale, traditional air-cooling methods are becoming insufficient for the massive heat loads generated by next-generation GPUs. Liquid cooling is up to 3,000 times more effective at heat removal, making it a prerequisite for the "AI Factories" of the future.

Strategic Context & Leadership Insights

The Bengaluru facility will specialize in high-density cooling systems designed for energy-intensive hyperscale data centres.

"Artificial intelligence can only scale when powered by energy intelligence," said Manish Pant, Executive Vice President of International Operations, Schneider Electric. "India's data-led transformation requires computing foundations that are reliable and sustainable. This launch is intended to support high-density AI infrastructure with necessary efficiency and performance at scale."

Deepak Sharma, Zone President – Greater India and MD & CEO, Schneider Electric India, added:

"India is moving from a consumer of AI infrastructure to a builder for both domestic and global demand. Manufacturing depth and supply readiness are now critical enablers for AI-ready data centers to scale across the country."

Key Technical and Regional Impacts

  • Global Supply Chain Integration: Bengaluru now joins the United States and Italy as a primary source for Motivair's specialized cooling portfolio, serving both the Indian market and global exports.

  • Supply Chain Resilience: Localizing production reduces lead times for Indian hyperscalers (like Adani and Yotta) who are currently building gigawatt-scale AI hubs.

  • Product Range: The facility will produce Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), Rear Door Heat Exchangers, and Cold Plate technologies capable of cooling 100 kW+ racks.

FAQ.

Why is liquid cooling necessary for AI?

AI chips (like those from NVIDIA and AMD) consume significantly more power than standard CPUs. Air cooling cannot dissipate this concentrated heat efficiently. Liquid cooling captures heat directly at the chip level, allowing for much higher rack densities and lower Power Usage Effectiveness ($PUE$).

What is the significance of the India-France Year of Innovation 2026?

This bilateral initiative focuses on deep tech and sovereign AI. Schneider Electric, as a French-headquartered global giant with a massive Indian footprint, serves as a primary industrial bridge for these national goals.

Is Schneider Electric showcasing these solutions elsewhere?

Yes, the company is currently presenting its complete range of AI Data Centre solutions, including these liquid cooling systems, at the India AI Impact Summit 2026
