A.C.E.D is a recognition of the accomplishments of some of Tamil Nadu's best civil engineers and a great opportunity to showcase gratitude for the work they accomplish. This award A.C.E.D is in its first edition (Architectural and Civil Engineering Design Awards).
The winners were chosen based on a variety of factors, including the use of renewable resources in construction, the use of local materials available in the respective towns, the building's aesthetic features, the novelty of the design focusing more on human-centricity, space utility, environmentally friendliness/sustainability-focused, colour selection, and cost optimisation.
The jury received about 700 entries and 109 submissions, which were split among the 6 jury members, and in the first stage, each chose 5 participants. In the second stage, which took place on October 8th at Nippon Paint Head office, the jury members came together to decide the top 8 in various categories in a closed-room discussion. The last category, which is a popular choice award, was chosen through voting.

Civil engineers are in charge of the structures, buildings, and big public works projects that enable modern life/smart city. We hope that by providing this forum, deserving civil engineers will showcase and celebrate their achievements. As we continue to fight the worldwide pandemic, the necessity of innovation and sustainability has become clear. We expect to see more participation in the next edition, and we do hope that this will lead to the greater impact that these spaces and designs will have for future generations."
Ar C N Raghavendran, Partner CRN Architects, one of the jury members, added, "Thanks to Nippon Paint for creating a milestone award platform for aspiring civil engineers; Awards like A.C.E.D. are the biggest motivator and the need of the hour. Civil engineers need recognition, and in the years to come, A.C.E.D will become a great platform that would create opportunities for Civil Engineers to acknowledge their work in a national forum. In the first edition of A.C.E.D, an increasing number of participants have displayed their works, some of which are very interesting and pathbreaking. It is indeed a tough job having to evaluate and judge the entries."
