IMTMA – PMC TECH courses augur well for manufacturing

Specialisation in Design and Production Engineering course to enhance the knowledge and skill sets of students in their respective domains.
Bengaluru, 08 June 2022: The certification function of a batch of 56 students from Er Perumal Manimekalai College of Engineering (PMC TECH) who underwent six-week training at Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) Technology Centre in Bengaluru was held on 7 June 2022. To make themselves industry ready, students underwent training from 25 April to 4 June 2022.
IMTMA in imparting training in Design Engineering and Production Engineering adopted the "Learning by Doing" methodology to enhance the knowledge and skill sets of students in their respective domains. More than 25 industry experts delivered sessions on multiple topics to bring in specialized inputs and industry best practices.
Students got hands-on practice in working with conventional machines, CNC machines, measuring instruments, tooling and fixturing, 3D CAD Design and modelling, 2D manufacturing drawings, etc. besides soft skills such as communication, presentation, mock interviews, etc.
The valedictory function was attended by Mr S Sundariya, Unit Head, Wendt India and Executive Committee Member, IMTMA and Mr P Kumar, Secretary, PMC TECH. Mr M Krishnamoorthy, Senior Director, IMTMA and Mr H V Rajashekara, Adviser, IMTMA, shared the dais.
Mr Sundariya spoke about the importance of trained manpower for the manufacturing industry, the expectations of industry and how IMTMA fills the gap between industry and academia. Mr Kumar opined that mechanical engineers will always win as mechanical engineering is the backbone of technology growth. Mr Rajashekara spoke about the next steps after training, on how to find employment with the confidence built by attending this training programme.
Students were presented with certificates and some of them shared their experiences on the six weeks training and about the IMTMA technology centre. According to them the six weeks course took them through a "transformation journey". They gained technical as well as soft skills which will help in boosting their confidence as they step into industries.
