Manufacturing trade show to offer digital events in coming months; pre-registered attendees to be refunded.
June 9, 2020 – The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2020 has been cancelled on account of health and safety concerns in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. “In light of the difficult and challenging circumstances, IMTS – The International Manufacturing Technology Show, scheduled for September 14-19, 2020 had to be cancelled. While this saddens us, the health and safety of our exhibitors and audience remains our top priority,” said Peter R Eelman, Vice President & CXO at AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, which owns and produces IMTS. This is the first time since WWII that the show will not be held as per schedule. HANNOVER MESSE USA, co-located with IMTS, has also been cancelled. Both shows will offer digital programs over the next several months.
“We know a live in-person IMTS show can never be replaced with a virtual event. We do, however, realise and understand that even though there is no physical event in 2020, it is our responsibility to provide the IMTS exhibitors and visitors with connections, networking opportunities and technical knowledge. We do not take this responsibility lightly and, to that end, we will launch two programs that will accomplish these goals,” Eelman added.
IMTS says registered attendees can receive a refund or donate their registration fee to a tax-deductible donation to Miles For Manufacturing, where every dollar is given to programs that prepare students for careers in manufacturing technology. IMTS organizers said IMTS will return to McCormick Place on September 13-18, 2022.
